About Vance Christianson:
Vance Christianson is a dedicated father of two—Blayke (11) and Russell (9)—and a devoted husband to his wife, Kayla. The family enjoys spending quality time together at the lake, going to the movies, bike rides, and attending the kids' activities. Vance is currently in his 2nd year as the Head Assistant Softball Coach at Valley City State University, where he brings his passion for the game and commitment to developing young athletes.
Balancing Winning and Player Development:
For Vance and his coaching staff, player development is the top priority. They believe that focusing on growth and improvement naturally leads to success on the field.

Passion for the game! Vance believes that a coach's enthusiasm and love for the sport are essential for inspiring players and creating a winning team culture.
Coaching Players with Different Skill Levels and Personalities:
Vance holds all of his athletes to high standards, regardless of their skill level. His staff designs complex practices that challenge players to focus, compete, and pay attention to detail. By pushing each other to excel, the athletes become more coachable and develop stronger skills. To keep things engaging, Vance also incorporates fun competition games into practices, teaching players how to compete effectively in real games.
Staying Current with Trends and Techniques in Fastpitch:
Vance stays up-to-date by engaging with social media platforms and discussing new ideas with fellow coaches in the organization. He emphasizes the importance of being open-minded and willing to try new techniques that could benefit the team.
Advice for New Coaches:
Have fun and be passionate about what you’re doing. When you’re passionate, your athletes will compete for you.
